On to St Anton

So with a tear in my eye as any dad would have we set off back into the Alps.

But first we needed to arm ourselves with the traditional ammunition used by the locals for New Year - or as they call it "Sylvester"

I don't know who Sylvester was but whoever he was, he must have really pissed someone off because the whole community launches inter continental ballistic missiles on Sylvester!

We were ready!

We arrived at Camping Arlberg near St Anton am Arlberg.

What a great stellplatz! From the warm welcome, to the Austrian efficiency with check-in and gas and "brötchen"!

One thing that was a huge downer was waiting for us in reception though.....

"No fireworks allowed on New Year in the entire Tirol Valley - Fire Hazard - 7000 Euro Fine!"

Alas, it seemed it would be a quiet night in for New Year ..... so we got some fondue and a Mouse whipped it up in true Masterchef style and we had a wonderful traditional fondue for new year as the snow came down to welcome us into the New Year making everything clean and white...... It was magical!

But then at 12 all hell broke loose - it was the Blitzkrieg! The Germans went "kraaaaayzy ya" Sylvester got blown sky high! They mist really hate that Sylvester guy!

The fireworks went off up and down the Valley - poor fireworks police must have run out of tickets!

We peeped out Felix's roof vent and enjoyed the show!

I had set up a family New Years Whats App group and it was so nice to see what they were up to and in some way to share New Year with them all over the globe.

Our New Year lasted 10 hours from Ian my cousin in the East (Mauritius) and Joanne my other cousin in the West (Vancouver) It was awesome to reconnect!
