Due to the anticipation of future luggage weight problems when coming home in February, we decided to send our boots and bindings back with the kids which now meant we had to rent this time around. It not only proved to be an expensive move but also a very frustrating one. After 3 days of trial and error, we ended up renting our boots from one shop (Intersport) and our board and bindings from another (Rent 2000)!
Little did we realise how spoilt we had been in Nassfeld! I never ended up feeling the love with my board (funny, you would think it's just a wooden plank) and generally we found St Anton less than ideal.
The piste's were badly maintained (quite astounding as St Anton is rated as one of THE best resorts in Austria), the people weren't overly friendly and to top it all off - not very snowboard friendly.
Alot of the piste's were very flat for long periods of time which is fine if you are skiing as you can push with your poles. Us snowboarders, we have to de-kit, walk the 100m on foot and then re-kit again to continue. Do that 5 times on one run and you get incredibly frustrated!!!
I however don't want to come across as a Moaning Minnie - we had great moments as well and some of the views were absolutely incredible.
