Prolific rain was forecast for our area (Riga) this morning so the plan was hatched last night to wake up early, cycle to the famous Riga Central Market and hopefully be back before we get drenched!
So up we were and on our way by 8:15 and headed direction city centre. Along the way we drove through the old part of town, coming across quite a few tourist groups being led by their your guides carrying the usual flag. I always find them quite amusing....
The market (comprised of 5 huge halls) was absolutely awesome and we managed to do some shopping before heading home again. And not a minute too late because by the time we arrived back at Felix, the rain had started to come down....
So a quick packup and on our way we were! Talinn in Estonia was the goal for today but seeing that our Ferry to Helsinki is only booked for Thursday morning, we decided to split the 300km in half and instead found a campsite in Pänu.
Estonia seems to be quite an organised country - the roads are in good nick, properties are neat and every garden we pass has flowers planted, grass cut short etc.
The rain was pelting down when we arrived, so the rest of the afternoon was spent catching up on office work, emails, reading etc
Come dinnertime, I decided to make Beef Stroganoff with the fillet we had bought this morning (I know, I know, you can't make stroganoff with a fillet!!!) but anyway it's done now :-)
While cutting my fillet into strips, the suspicion started creeping in that the beef that we bought might not actually be beef! Its definitely not Pork or Lamb and come to think of it, paying approx R150 for 700gr of beef is mightily cheap!!
So, what is it then??? Horse? Deer? Elk? In the end we agreed to it being horse called elk.....
