From Lithuania to Latvia

Campsite: Riga City Camping, Latvia

Another City Camping site.... this time it's in Riga, the capital of Latvia. The campsite itself is pretty non-descript - a parking lot located behind the Expo building with makeshift sanitation facilities in containers. But hey, what more do you need?

What we DID do was meet two interesting couples: one, a german couple who love ice hockey and who have come to scout out Riga for next years Ice Hockey World Champs and two, another couple in a stealth-mobile. They were really interesting in that they were born in Switzerland, now own a guesthouse in France and speak a multitude of languages (8 that we could count). Little did we know that we would bump into them again at the next nights campsite in Estonia....

So here just a few impressions of our trip today, starting with the speed bumps in the middle of a national highway!

On the way through Lithuania we visited a major tourist attraction: The Hill of Crosses. It is basically a little hill covered with over 3000 crosses of all makes, shapes and sizes

Welcome to Latvia

Loved the cows in the middle of the traffic circle :-)
