So Close and Yet So Far.....

We found him. 150km north of Munich at the "Wohnmobilparadies".
It was by pure luck that we stumbled onto him as he wasn't the original vehicle that we intended viewing - that one turned out to be the size of a bus!!

Our Hymer

Hymer was perfect. He had double beds, a large kitchen, a nice flow through (a lot of these things feel incredibly cramped), large enough shower to actually shower comfortably in plus he was in a good condition considering that the vehicle is close to 15 years old. He also had a few extras such as bike carrier, automatic satellite dish etc etc.

View to the back

View to the front - you can see the second double bed folded up against the ceiling
Timm and I spent over 4 hours with him, checked him through, opened all boxes, looked in every cupboard, test drove him down the autobahn (Topspeed 95 km/h), we tried to find a fault (Apart from the high milage)

Servicing, roadworthy, licensing etc was all negotiated and agreed on and we pretty much were ready to sign on the dotted line when the dealbreaker appeared  - this guy has a red "Umweltplakette" which makes it illegal to drive in urban areas and the resale virtually impossible.

And there we were. Without a motorhome again.

Both of us had already made this guy our friend, we had fallen in love.  But the saying goes - "If you love someone, let them free" - and that's what we did. Hymer stayed at the dealer.

Back to Munich we go to devise a Plan C.
